GM did voluntary first

(bumping from another thread )

Too bad they didn't first do a round of voluntary cuts. I believe that could have saved some people who were let go this round.

GM did a voluntary in late 2018, an involuntary in early 2019, and another voluntary this spring. Lots of very high quality senior talent walked out early this summer with absolutely no training of potential replacements or backfills in the latest voluntary, so those skill sets are lost. Essentially all who asked to go went regardless of impact. Short sightedness and brutal HR policies are by no means unique to Ford.

Brutal, I told my LL5 that if there were cuts that I would like to be included. But I'm still at Ford today and some of my peers that are better performers have been let go. No I'll hold on for the most inopportune time to F them over.

Sadly, the change to no voluntary started in 2022 if you recall. My heart is heavy reading this news the last few days.
