Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Post PIP timeline for retirement eligible

Say PIP ends on 7/31 unsuccessfully; it sounds like retirement happens on last day of month regardless of reason. It also sounds like 8/31, and not 7/31, would be that date ("If PIP is not successfully completed then retirement starts on 8/1 and would retire 8/31"). Is this correct?
If so, when is access to IBM systems revoked 8/1 or 8/31?
And do I get paid for August or just medical?
RAs and PIPs have been core competencies for at least a decade - can't believe our much heralded Watson powered AskHR bot can't answer. Ok maybe I can

Let them RA you collect unemployment. Once unemployment is finished put in for retirement

If you are retirement eligible as of date of termination - then it DOES NOT MATTER REASON OF TERMINATION you can elect (or leave on the table as I did) retirement benefits.

to @jyf+ If one IS retiring then might as well ride the PIP out. Really just do the minimum if anything at all - might as well get paid for it.

If one is NOT retiring - then leaving during a PiP is a sure way at most companies to get flagged to never re-hire. But who cares about that for re-hire at IBM ? Few if any.

So if retiring - ride your PIP out and who knows maybe they'll RA you.

Note also that "Severance" is NOT "severance" but payment for gag order. My understanding is that's offered to ALL and in particular PIP as the more disgruntled the more they want a gag order on them.

So ride the PIP out - not doing much - and hope they RA you; Otherwise you'll also likely also get what some call "Severance"

What are the benefits choosing retirement when faced with PIP or RA?

If retiring, why play their game and go the indignity of a PIP?

Just tell them to get effed and retire.
