Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Belk may be hurting your resume

several companies including TJ Maxx are thinking twice before hiring (mostly senior manager) roles that have come from Belk in the last few years, TJ Maxx HR is looking at Belk as a last resort, and assumes that if someone took a position in a senior leadership role at Belk in the last five years it was due to desperation or possibly because of favoritism. In any event, if you have worked for Belk for an extended period of time that may help your case, but if you flip flop from job to job with Belk as your last place of employment..... beware....

I feel like it is not just hurting my resume but the last shift I worked I felt physically afraid. I am a associate that handles a lot and I've always enjoyed a challenge but my last shift was very disturbing on all levels. Our store schedules so few people that it has become a danger to the associates. Theft is so rampant that on a daily basis we have to experience the worst kind of people . My last shift a customer literally slide over the mens fragrance counter and grabbed sets of fragrance, opened them up and started spraying on themselves. I calmly approached him and advised him that I could help them and they could not go behind the counter on their own. I was helping another customer and she felt uncomfortable. I called the key holder for assistance and he came and helped. All the while another couple keep coming asking the gentlemen if he got it. After the keyholder handled the customer who felt that I had an attitude for telling him he could not go behind the counter he stayed in the store , on the phone , never bought anything. His brother joined him and they kept going back and forth through the store from the front entrance to the mall entrance. Two of my regular customers came in and one of them was afraid to get out of her car to come in, because she saw them in the parking lot. And keep in mind this is all going on while I am supposed to be watching four counters, calling people and doing markdowns I guess I am talking about it on this site because if I talk to HR it really won't be addressed. I think belks only concern in these situations is not to be sued. My store manager is great and provides me with a lot of support but he really can't do anything about these kind of situations. It goes way above. So to all of you trolls and shills that will try and run me down for posting this, I actually love my position at belk but it has gotten really bad and yes I can quit which I will soon.
