Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Realtors and other freeloaders

One employee in our org does not come to in person meeting at all despite having assigned office. Realtors have started their advertisement again. Makes management complicit. All these two job guys and other freeloaders in management are dragging the company down.

When you see these folks run around all day showing properties you wonder what they are doing in their supposedly 'at work' time? This is why no one wants to be working in the office every day.

How in the world is Qualcomm allowing engineers (doing double jobs of being an engineer and a realtor at the same time) to openly market their services? From personal experience, I can tell you they su-k at being an engineer (being at Qualcomm part time) and work full time on real estate. These engineers are found everywhere during the day time showing property, negotiating offers, and closing deals. Why and how in the world do these folks have their full time jobs at Qualcomm? Makes absolutely no sense at all!

The only people who are dragging this company done are CEO and the rest of higher ups. If qualcomm paid these people enough and did not threaten people with layoffs (they could save a lot of cost by reducing stupid office space) they did not need to have a second job. So zip it up and dont defend a company that treats you like a disposable toilet paper.

If Qualcomm won’t pay you someone else will… better yourself instead of a company that will drop you without notice… and I need a realtor any suggestions?

One of my coworkers is a licensed real estate broker, he represented me as a buyer a year ago. In my personal opinion he is an excellent engineer as well as an excellent agent.

Qualcomm employees are employees at will, they can be terminated without reason. This is why many employees have some sort of side gig to diversify income streams (which should not affect their regular job). I have to admit that I myself had a side gig for several years at Qualcomm and with my previous employer.

On a side note, I also know a director who has well over 20 rental units, he is doing an excellent job growing Qualcomm business in an area that CA said it was critical

I think it balances out in the end. Many people don't do the job they have, so if another does 2 jobs.....2 people, 2 jobs, seems about right.

Poor performance is poor performance regardless of what they do in their free time.

Why you hate the man for trying to diversify their income streams? It's none of the multi billion dollar companies business what employees do as long as the work gets done.
