After the split. Which customer will fall by the wayside for support. Walmart and Starbucks are big players. So that leaves Macys, Target, Home Depot, Big lots just to name a few.

If calls are down for retail and ATMs plus more bank branches are being closed then what will this company do about headcount. Serious question with the split upcoming, of which my team does not know when as Management has said very little to us. I hope I am downsized and not moved. If the Macys account is not renewed for support I hope I’m let go, as sad as that is to say. That’s how bad it is working for this company and I’ve been looking elsewhere. Always willing and able to learn other things but with the lying from Management I just want to move on. Many team members feel the same but won’t say it.
Management wants to know what the actual work load is. As always the number of machines in your area determines the headcount. Obviously we are losing customers and we hired many in the last few years when we were in talk for the bought out.
I love the hand generated calls comment, this is the classic create bogus calls to look busy, just allowing this to be done is how lame the company is, the TM will support it cause it makes it look like the techs are busy, In reality some is ok, but the majority is filling in time for people doing nothing. On top of it all the ones creating bogus calls get better numbers and a better rating for doing less, congrats NCR, you value lazyness
When your manager does not care, has calls on his or her terms, does not discuss anything with you, you are not based in the hubs, you know you will let go. If that happens it is only for the better. There is a whole new world out there. I was one of them in the past. My world improved, so no regret at all. The company sad enough is not what it used to be and the management neither.
In 2007 when NCR spun off Teradata, this is what happened.
Employees were lied to, and in the dark about many things, and they were secretly split between NCR and Teradata. They were told there’s not enough jobs for both companies, so there will be hiring.
Then many jobs were off shored to a Accenture and many were let go. Yeah they hired to Accenture employees.
It was all about the bottom line, saving money, cutting US workers and replacing them with cheeper labor.
Many ITS jobs were offshored to India. Look around now you will see many of those India workers living in the US with visas. When the split is over, and everything is on the cloud, many workers will no longer be needed. India workers will be let go and sent back to India and the remaining US workers will also be let go because their jobs will no longer be needed. In-house IT is a thing of the past.
And all of the other jobs left if it can be done virtually, then goodbye USA and offshore it goes if it is still needed. Breaks my heart to see how far NCR has fallen to shame.
the hand held generated calls will come back. it was suspended to gauge the true number retail calls. yeah we were told the same thing for hiring more techs.
Rumor mill is that since doing away with hand generated calls (and more calls getting cancelled before CE dispatch) based on the numbers of calls, they are seeing less need for retail positions.
Not sure what that means once split is started (do they shift those “excess” retail slots to financial side?)
IMO, would not be the least surprised to see some CE layoffs or hiring halted.
Our TM mentioned NCR would need to hire for the split, they have not increased the numbers of techs since announcement.
Yeah nobody knows anything. Our TM says he doesn't even know if hes going to retail or ATM. Says we should know by the middle of August at the latest. Its scary to think who is making the decisions about who goes where when you're a generalist. Actually our area is long overdue to split retail and ATM as we are really getting overwhelmed.
I don’t know about the rest of North America but the union stays here in British Columbia. Same contract for both companies. No new contract or dissolving of the contract. Ncr would have to leave Canada for a minimum of 2 years before dissolving the membership. We have been unionized for 50 years and going no where. If the atmco or digital commerce gets bought up by another company we then unionize their employees. We have strong labor standards here in BC but doesn’t mean we aren’t worried about the unknown.
The contract with target should end next year. Target introduced self checkout in 2014. Usually they sign for a 10 year contract. Pos refresh 2023 at Macy is about replacing ncr registers with hp rp9. Just before the contract ends in 2024. That should mean something. Our contract with walmart is also subject to renewal on 2024. We are at the very end of finishing the contract with lowes too. There are a few lowes stores in my area for the service. Dmb and radiant calls are what we count on also.
So far employees have been told nothing, only news comes from press releases, shame on management, at least have the decentcy to say something, so many people have given decades to make ncr what is was, shame it is what is is and has become, dedicated employees mean nothing, even brown nosing and kissing the bosses a-s won’t save those who went that way. Glad to get severance and walk away with my head up, The train is heading to the end of the tracks with no brakes
NCR is changing but not for the better. My team call today pretty much reinforces that. Retail accounts I could see Macys not renewing support but not sure about the others. Walmart is their main concern along with Target and Starbucks ughh.
For sure they will try to dissolve the Union. Just look at NCR down grading the Team Lead position to a senior CE (CE3). The only places this did not occur were in Unionized territories due to CBA.
Really curious to hear what happens.
Too bad no union workers are active in these threads to chime in with what is being said to them from both sides.
The SEC filings are now complete so the government has green lighted 2 new companies after split.
As far as the Union goes, we all know NCR does not want to have any Union, if they have the opportunity to dissolve it they will do everything in their power to do it. Legally I have no idea, but both sides will lawyer up.
My guess, the union contract is with NCR Corporation. Once NCR “folds” , then contract is terminated. Will require new contract.
Speaking of union. What happens to unionized CE’s with the split into 2 new companies? Specifically in Boston and NY?
Are the unions out of luck and the need for a new vote to unionize again?
After being outsourced, been living off severance since, will collect unemployment after the severance runs out, trained on every thing NCR offers, will consider working in 2025, but it will cost whoever owns whatever, won’t be cheap. Getting outsourced for me was fine.
Imagine if all the ce’s banded together to go against the corporation. For fair pay a fair working hours. I get it. you worry about being laid off. But hasn’t the time come to do something. Layoff here are common past 20 years. Worry about the next layoff because there always another one coming. fixed it form a union. Or move to another job. In the end, your the only one who really suffers by staying. Think how this has effected you when you have a day off. The thought of being the next on to get the axe is constantly there.
