@kwq - I pretty much agree with you there, having grown up here in SE Mich as well. But one thing that this area does have is some fantastic music if that's you're thing. And not just one particular style, be it rock, soul, jazz, etc and not all wide out in the open. Detroit Techno is a prime example of that.

If “don’t work at Ford if you want to be comfortable” means you should continue to challenge yourself by learning new skills while developing your career I can agree. If it means you should get used to living with that rush of adrenaline that kicks in your “fight or flight” instinct then that’s messed up. That kind of uncomfortable can cause long term physical and mental health issues. Can anyone stay focused and productive under that kind of stress? I sure can’t.
Not really, waiting for a call or meeting invite from my manager before the townhalls start around 2pm
I'm doing fk all like every one else, this is no way to live and no way to run a company. I'm emo exhausted for myself and friends.
In the office doing my thing. Good luck, folks.
Don’t work for ford but due to fords stress I cannot work my current job today. May end up taking a couple days reprieve in honor of all stuff going on at your company.
Ford is not the place to be if you want to feel comfortable?
I’ve got some news then. Detroit is a sucky place. It’s ugly, cold, and expensive (high tax), not to mention the crime. Oh, and it’s boring. And I’ve lived here my whole life. You only come to Detroit for 1 thing: Work. If Ford wants to make working for it attractive, they will have to offset all the negatives of living in the Detroit area with SOMETHING.
It’s interesting with respect to the “culture” i.e toxic that the company currently has.
All we ever hear about is how much more cost we have compared to our competitors and specifically after the cuts last August we heard from Doug Field himself about how you shouldn’t be working here if you want to feel “comfortable”.
Which I generally wouldn’t have a problem with if that’s really how these things went, but it never does. It’s never based on performance lol and I could not even tell you the last time my team’s LL5 was in any kind of meeting with our team in any fashion.
But I could specifically pinpoint at least a handful of directives from upper management (LL3 and higher) that have directly led to bloated costs, downstream impacts to quality etc. It’s insane…
Not much.
I personally cannot focus
