Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Are UW donations tracked?

I am hearing a rumor that if you’re a large UW contributor that it’ll get you a larger raises and in December. This true? Is United way being tracked?

Stopped giveing to UW years ago. They have high overhead costs and some locations were corrupt. I now give directly to the organizations I support or my local church. No need for the company involved with another part of my life.

If you go to the high contributor UW events (you give more than $2500)...then you get to hob nob with senior management...If could help career wise, but no guarantees.

Can confirm the more visible you are at UW events and if you are a top donor it will effect the amount of push for you during ranking leading to higher raises due to higher rank group. Maybe not for lower cl <26 rank sessions but definitely helps if you’re a hi-po or at the very edge of being a hi-po. Donate more than 5k? that list gets communicated up the chain to president level.

Would you tell me who got a promotion when EM shows the pictures where they are at UW shop moving boxes?

I set my contributions to zero and I got a promotion so seems not true.

They track if you completed the contribution form. Not how much you donate.

My rankings have gone up since I stopped donating, so I’d guess not

When I got assigned to do soliciting, the site spreadsheet definitely had a mark if you had chosen to donate. Hopefully that doesn't factor into our "performance" based raises, but it's available. At least in BR.

Come on people. This post is an all time low as are the comments. Try volunteering with the United Way before you judge. I'm not talking about attending the corporate events. I'm talking about taking some of your own time outside of work to volunteer. You'll quickly see they do a whole lot of good in the community. People talking about things they clearly know nothing about.

And no, it isn't discussed in rankings, your manager has no idea if you donate, etc. Paranoid much?

LOL, XOM maybe a lot of things.......but tracking donations and linking it to raises is definitely not one of them. Pretty sure the highly expensive legal department will not let this even remotely discussed.

I was a UW Lead, I do recall keeping metrics on if you completed the UW donation form. For the most part we were tasked to make sure you checked off the UW donation box. Yes or No is all we cared about.

BUT, I also did see how much $$$ people donated, not sure who else saw that during rankings.

Sure some of the $ does go to needy organizations but UW keeps the most to line up there pockets.

Don't think so, throughout my career i have donated various amount. Small to large amounts, never came into ranking discussion. You have to click on the option to be recognized. Some of the volunteer items I signed up for were meaningful others were not. Sad to say I did get a letter from United Way thanking me for my donation. Even though I resigned last year.

Definitely used to be tracked. You would end up in newsletter thing when you donated a certain about. It came up in rating and ranking. It does not come up now, I know that for sure. However maybe when things get quiet some jack4sss manager will start to ask for those metrics.

The UW or charitable team building events were dreadful. No real team spirit. People who “volunteered” don’t seem to want to be there. No real conversations. Of course, if a high level person make a showing, then folks tends to put on their best face.

No, it does not get you a larger raise.

However, I never felt that UW donations were voluntary. In previous years, I was pressured to donate. Constant badgering. It felt like some metric or goal rather than something from the heart. Maybe this is part of the scheme to help the company’s image in the community.

One year I missed the handing out of the little glass momentos. When I asked for one, the person who was handing them out blew me off even though I made a sizable donation.

At any rate, I’d rather donate to charities that matters to me rather be pressured to donate to a publicity campaign.
