UK VP Visits

Bangor & Aycliffe confirmed for VP visits next week. Will this be further bad news for UK plants with what's happened to Atherstone yesterday?

“It’s quite sad that a few fellow workers would come on here accusing people of deliberately trying to close the plant”. Maybe that happens when people walk around the plant saying they hope the plant closes so they can get a top up on their pension. And it would have been nice for us op’s that aren’t in coating to hear what the pay offer was? Everyone always wants as much as they can get but sometimes you have to admit that it’s a fair offer and move on. Just an opinion

my first wee post..it would appear there are differing opinions on whats good/bad...why not sit down with fellow workers from all sections and discuss the way forward..where no one loses and everyone benefits.Secure our future. Sitting anonymous on here...people will get the wrong end of the stick i feel. Opinions at times get taken out of context. Just my thoughts

from a UK point of view, Aycliffe, Skelmersdale and Bangor could maybe benefit from stronger backing from St Paul. Invest in our future.

It’s quite sad that a few fellow workers would come on here accusing people of deliberately trying to close the plant shocked and disgusted that we have to work alongside people who think that about colleagues, the us and them division has started ? Fair pay rises for all

The problem with Bangor is the operators who take 3 months sick as extra holidays each summer and then call the rest of us selfish need to take a hard look in the mirror

Problem for Bangor is that their Plant Manager is a compulsive liar and is incompetent. Probably go far in 3M!!

its quite sad when a few fellow workers shoot down a decent work place..in the hope of it closing and thus getting a $$$ PAY OFF$$$. The vast majority are happy in 3M and those who hate it so much...cant or wont leave....the silent majority in their 30s/40s need and want a job and are decent work mates...WISE UP... i hope it stays open for those who want a job for life

Wow no training to pack stuff in a box. I’d like to think you could give me a box, something to put in it and some tape and I’d have it mastered in about 1 minute.
Probably why Bangor won’t be there much longer either.

The visitors to Bangor will be to thank the management for running the machines and to thank the staff for packing the finished product when there were not enough operators employed and these people did all this without any training. Great work. thankfully none of these untrained people were injured. Yet.

They would never last in KFC as they would have to work for a living and they know it.
Sure us operators are just glorified FLT drivers and button pushers, thats it. but still some of the degenerates in the place still make it look hard and want more money for it.
They need to learn to keep their mouths closed before things actually get hard.

Why would anyone stay in a place they hate so much? Surely go somewhere with greener grass. KFC are always looking for staff. The rest of us who are happy in our jobs would get peace instead of listening to constant bleating and whining. Problem solved

So sad to hear about Atherstone, was a big shock.
So proud to be part of 3M and Bangor is a such a good place to work, with so many hard workers and nice people, pity about the other lazy group of workers that have a chip on their shoulders about the place. Over the years they have been able to afford nice cars, holidays bought houses and brought their kids up, but still it's not good enough. Grow up, it's hardly like we are hard pushed in the place,
Think about the next generation you selfish people.

hopefully the visits should be positive, a lot of people working hard behind the scenes to better organise the company to move forward. It will take time , to the unfortunate souls in Atherstone, please keep your chins up and if you need help , then don't be afraid to ask. God works in mysterious ways so don't look down , walk with your head held high , good luck

As a non 3M person it’s funny how these low paid workers can come to work in top of the range vehicles 😂 Audis and full electric cars. Although fair play to the guy saving the planet

question for scotch for the road.......
you got any useful data to back up the following comments?:

  1. "Bangor is a goldmine"
  2. "Increase in volume"

this post is a bit tasteless on the back of the announcement yesterday that 150+ people are losing their jobs. Shameful.

Ayecliffe is known for high costs, I am surprised the UK plants lasted this long after Brexit. As long as the UK was in the EU, manufacturing there made sense. I am truly sorry for everyone that may be losing their jobs.
