Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Which companies are still fully WFH?

From what I can see, the majority of companies in our industry are at least in hybrid mode, and some are even on a "4 in, 1 out" system. This goes even beyond. It looks like RTO is becoming the norm once again. I might not like it, but I don't think many of us will be able to find jobs that are fully remote even if we decide to quit over this.

When I left Schwab a bit over a year ago I got offers from two companies (and applied for a number of others) -- all remote. A quick sampling of the same "Jobs" tab in LI that turned up both the opportunities I pursued to the offer phase reveals that about 30% specify remote with rest either 1) Not specifying or 2) Explicitly saying on-site or hybrid. So clearly the trend is toward RTO. Lots of variables though: long-established companies with heavy investments in CRE in big cities are going to want butts in seats to justify the sunk costs of that CRE. Smaller in concerns, in BF, MT will benefit from a larger pool of human resources. Even the employer I chose is now asking for 2-3 days in for folks within 1 hour of their larger ("hub") offices. I'm not in that category but worry that if I can do my job effectively from 1k km from the nearest "hub" they may find someone who can do it equally well for less $$ from 10k km away. I guess being in a proximate timezone is worth something.

I’m fine with RTO if I was going to rub shoulders with smart people, not the re--rds that remain at Schwab

I left Schwab and went to a fully remote tech co and worked 10-12 hour days across time zones.

This is one of those executive council efforts. Damage control for Walt's continuous bad decisions lately

How are those long term bonds working out Walt?

Are you paid to push this propaganda or are you just what the French call les incompétents?

I’m fine not being fully remote, I’m not okay being lied to and betrayed so I still intend to leave.
