"Are you willing to wait months or years before it is settled?" - That comment couldn't be further from the truth. I work in the legal sector. It is EXTREMELY rare for wrongful dismissal lawsuits to go to court. It is also not often that your claim has to be settled in a mediation. What happens most often is that a competent employment law firm - including well respected and referred firms like the one that OP references at the start of the thread (I know from personal experience having used and referred them to others) - will negotiate the matter with the employer very early on, within a matter of weeks. And the employer will cover most, if not all, of your legal costs!

it was many many years ago but I took the VRIF at18 months offered for 19 years of service, most of it as an FSM as we used to be called. I would suggest spending a half hour, usually free, with a lawyer to see we he felt your options might be.

Think I’d prefer to lawyerup vs playing 3 card Monty / xerox severance package? But opinions and circumstances vary.

Know this:
The fees charged by an employment lawyer can vary depending on several factors, including the lawyer's experience, reputation, geographic location, and the complexity of the case. Typically, employment lawyers charge clients in one of the following ways:

Hourly Rate: Many employment lawyers charge an hourly rate for their services. The specific hourly rate can vary significantly based on the factors mentioned above. Hourly rates can range from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on the lawyer's expertise and location.

Flat Fee: In some cases, employment lawyers may offer a flat fee for specific services, such as reviewing an employment contract or drafting a demand letter. The flat fee is determined based on the scope of work involved.

Contingency Fee: In certain situations, such as employment discrimination or wrongful termination cases, lawyers may work on a contingency fee basis. This means that the lawyer will only receive payment if they are successful in obtaining a settlement or favorable judgment for their client. The contingency fee is usually a percentage (often around 30% to 40%) of the total amount recovered.

It's important to discuss fees and billing arrangements with the employment lawyer directly to get a clear understanding of their rates and any additional costs that may be involved.

If you get lawyers involved, they will take 25% or more of your severance for payment.
Xerox will also handle the liability lawsuit and stretch out the time before they settle with you.

Are you willing to wait months or years before it is settled?

But to each their own, do what you believe is correct.
