Thread regarding Neiman Marcus Group layoffs

Now supposedly they wanna dump the company

As sales keep declining....

Or maybe just get rid of Bergdorf which is a known drag.

You must be a member of the board of directors, or a direct report to GVR, it is common knowledge that they tell him he’s great every minute of the day.
Maine reason for the place going down the tubes.

Dumping a branch off the tree of incompetence will only stave off the inevitable, this company has allowed GVR to make fools of the board of directors, any company willing to consider taking on this company as it sinks will only wait until GVR drives it further to the bottom of the sea.
GVR will continue to come up with poor excuses as to why the business is crumbling and the board of directors will continue to not have a idea what the meaning of director is.

It pains me that GVR will make a mint if there’s a sale. Shame on the board for agreeing to all of his fat bonuses.

Agree merchandise offering is a problem. We live in the Palo Alto CA vicinity. Went to Palo Alto store today for men’s shoes and shirts. Wife went to buy shoes as well. Our community is quite affluent but not showy. Hard to find “quiet luxury” fashion in this store. Everything has crystals, too much shine and obvious logos. Do the merchants understand that this market is not the same as others? There must be more effort to mirror the tastes of each community. Also stock levels too low and escalator going up was broken. Walked 100 feet to Wilkes Bashford and found merchandise that was more in line with my needs and reflected real luxury not overly logo’d and loud assortments.

GVR is blaming the merchants - the very ones he hired. At least he’s consistent.

I trust the Post - they’ve been right all the other times. Geoffrey has failed time and again in trust.

Think G.V.R. himself commented below... Selling way too high priced stuff not worth the money was a bad mistake ..most millionaires aren't even flashy and wouldn't want our stuff . We wouldn't have layed off 5 percent of workforce if his strategy was working..
