Thread regarding Northwestern Mutual layoffs

Layoffs every six months

A month ago, when the tech was hit with layoffs, there was talk about future layoffs every six months. What happened with that? Has there been any more talk about it or was it determined that it was just a rumor started by somebody who was bored or wanted to cause unnecessary worry?

What is going on with recent budget cuts and trimming new projects? Feels like another round of layoff is coming…

Where has Aditi been hiding lately? A big mouth know-it-all like her can't stay silent for long.

I think the pants were actually more of a salmon color. He's never worn them to work again for fear of (further) ridicule.

A few months ago, it was widely reported here and in other gossip circles JES was incredibly angry at DR over some numbers and the progress of some initiatives and threatened his job. It was then that DR seemed like he started to take a back seat to things and not be in the spotlight much anymore.

DR might be using his Silver Fox alter ego and out filming more Senior Singles commercials. Good riddance to him if he is leaving. He can take his pink pants with him.

DR’s cleanup process needs to start with DR packing his things and getting out of NM. He’s not been visible for a long time which has been a great start to this departure process. HR is a disaster.

The people that need to leave will stick around until they're forced out/fired for not showing up later in the year once DR implements his cleanup program.

The 3 day return to campus coming September will also lead to other departures.

When the pension, 401k, retiree health insurance, employee health insurance, merit increases, annual bonuses, promotions, campus shuttle, Franklin Campus, policyholder dividends, and the company reputation have been liquidated and are all gone you turn to layoffs to cover all of your management screwups. Leaders seem to think that DEI will be the Phenex that lifts NM back up. This new building will bring as much life back to NM as the streetcar to nowhere has to the City of Milwaukee.

Honestly adjustments of staffing are a lever to address the budget. While it sucks to see 50 jobs eliminated every six months they do give people opportunities to post for new positions and the packages seem decent if you lose your job. I stopped thinking this place was special in 2017/2018 and try to be prepared for the worst.

I would assume that this is the new normal.
