Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Corporate collusion

On May 16 the CEO of AT&T announced a RTO that involved forcing employees into specific offices and getting rid of Telework all together. My company will be losing thousands of employees who either can’t or won’t relocate on their own dime.

What are the similarities to the Schwab policy and when was it announced?

I wonder how many other companies are in involved in this drastic RTO exercise?

Some of the conversations I have read here sound exactly like the, “The layoffs -AT&T” page.

When was your RTO announcement and does anyone have that communication to share?

I would not be surprised if it were related. I have heard from friends working at competitors like Fidelity that they have had the same thing happen to them. Quite curious, as the running costs of a WFH are much lower once office space is downsized. I venture it will not change until the boomers in charge of the company finally die, but by then AI will almost certainly obviate most of our jobs anyway. Maddening.

ATT is reducing office locations from 350 cities nationwide to 9 hub locations , ending telework and requiring all employees to return to office by end of summer. The company will decide what office, not the employee.

We have 7 times more employees than Charles Schwab your RTO is tiny in comparison. I was trying to relate the two not compare the two, because there is no comparison.

AT&T is closing office space and making people RELOCATE for their RTO. Nothing like what is happening with Schwab. Schwab is asking people within a commutable distance to RTO to existing locations 3-4 days a week. The issue is that the decision and plan were communicated w/o input from middle management or staff, and it's not being done in a ramp-up way, giving people time to slowly adjust, not to mention an about face from a previous communication about WFH being the future. Collusion is a bit of stretch.
