Thread regarding VMware layoffs

FTC decission

When can we expect a decission from the FTC? Are they any timelines? It‘s more than a year ago that Broadcom announced that they will acquire VMware.

"At least the corporation's (Broadcoms) legal team has experience at this sort of thing. In 2018 it was probed by US authorities over contract practices, and in 2021 was forced to stop some anticompetitive practices. In 2022 it was in strife again – this time for allegedly forcing its customers to sign exclusive supply contracts."

Why regulators or anyone else would trust anything, Hock says, is beyond me. He is in the business of ripping customers off, period. He will make whatever product you buying worse and will charge you A LOT more for it. This type of business model needs to stop.

If Hrock can squeeze mega companies like Samsung, just imagine what they are going to do to the VMware customer base. Good thing some of the VMware customers have a military. The EU will regret approving once they are forced to buy a perpetual license for every EU citizen.

So, FTC is currently waiting for a response from BC? Didn't know that. It doesn't seem like a done deal then.

BC has mentioned that they are going to file a FTC response the week after the EU decision - so around July 20. The FTC will respond in around 30 days, so expect a FTC decision in late August.
