Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

The fall of Schwab

https://fortune.com/2023/03/02/forced-return-office-fueling-rise-labor-unions-careers-gleb-tsipursky/

“It is time for employers to recognize the value of remote work and create hybrid or remote work arrangements with their employees to meet the needs of both parties. Employers who do so will enjoy a happier and more productive workforce, while those who refuse to adapt risk falling behind in a rapidly changing world.“

Schwab is failing to meet the needs of their employees with their very strict RTO mandate. It is a sharp departure from previous proclamations regarding a new way of working. Gone is disruption and innovative thinking. Gone is employees’ trust/loyalty, gone is any sense of company culture. Yes, you will get butts back in seats, but it comes at a high price.

Just because bad math ki-ls me...

  1. You did not account for holidays that fall on RTO days
  2. You did not account for PTO
  3. If you are smart, you would book doctor appts on RTO days and take the full 8 hours of sick time on that day.

So I put in a telecommute exemption request based on my cat. For the past three years I have been home all day with my cat. If I suddenly RTO, my cat may develop some form of feline panic disorder or feline anxiety attack. I have a note from the vet documenting this possibility. Waiting to see what they say.... My cat is everything to me. She's the only thing I got actually....

@1czg+1nX9ENz3 makes the case why I do not want to be anywhere near someone like this in the office. BTW, there’s a number of anti-laundry obsessed RTO freaks too. So, given their personality and odor combined, methinks WFH is still more productive.

I have plenty of friends. I met them in the office. LMAO!!!!

Meanwhile you’re begging to stay home to make sure your cat isn’t lonely.

I don’t read good and after a few drinks on a Saturday night I get off on attacking my fellow employees because I have no friends

Also, if you disagree, you can find a different job right? Unlike North Korea you have your choice to find a different, better paying, more flexible, more interesting job right? You are owned by Schwab right? You have the ability to leave right? So don’t act like it’s something you can’t change. Man up and leave if you’re unhappy you baby.

You need to take a reading comprehension class. I compared the person to a North Korean citizen not the job

Lmao!!!!!! Comparing a paid employee being asked to return to an office for 3 days a week, for a job you use to work 5 days a week in office to North Korea is the most outrageous thing I’ve ever heard. Something tells me you got a lot of participation trophies.

Dude if you are fine with going into the office that’s cool so why are you on here? Do you get off on attacking other employees or what? You would make a great North Korean citizen because you like being told what to do and attack other people who disagree with the leadership

What do you know…ANOTHER cry baby who just can’t accept returning to WORK. How about you find a different skill and land a full remote job? What if the SEC and or FINRA say that you cannot work from home anymore? Are you going to leave the industry as a whole? No one is forcing you to go into the office. Find a different job than you little baby. What’s wrong? You won’t be able to Netflix instead of actually working? You won’t be able to get that laundry done and yard mowed? It’s a freaking job. It’s not your personal business. Grow the heck up or LEAVE. Did you not listen to Walt and Rick? It’s always someone preaching something on how “schwab will miss this talent”…and now they are going through the largest integration this industry has ever seen. No, Schwab won’t miss this “talent” that refuses to leave their moms basement or refuses to put on something other than pajamas. They can find the next person that is hungry to be a true professional and accept the incredibly generous 40% flexibility. Freaking babies man..

Actually, I missed this - originally counted 20 RTO days in that 4 wk., but it should actually be 12 RTO days:

52 weeks in a year x 5 = 260 weekdays
52 weeks x 3 (RTO) = 156 days
52 weeks x 2 (WFH) = 104 days
4 weeks additional WFH (3 RTO x 4 ) = 12 days

104 + 12 = 116 days
116/260 = 44.6%

Your math is just blowing our mind. If your premise is true, then it works out to 48.12% from the extra 4 weeks. Not 47.7, and certainly not 50.

I think it's being rounded off from 47.7% because of the extra 4 weeks Schwab is giving us to use.

Hate to break it to you : @xqk+1nX9ENz3 but 2 divided by 5 equals 40 percent. That is 40% WFH. Methinks you might want to review basic math. Lol. And there is no need for cursing. This is a logical issue, not an emotional one. Schwab is failing to see the forest for the trees. Remote work IS the future of work. It isn’t going away. Schwab is going to miss out on top talent with this policy, plain and simple.

How the fu-k is 50% work from home not a flexible work arrangement?
