How many of us think that GF will not survive this slump and file bankruptcy?

The leadership has been the same for years and years. The company will not compete with the big chip companies until new blood is injected.
As others have stated compute is a small piece of overall revenue so not too much of an impact to GF. However, mobile is something like 40% of revenue and companies like Qualcomm are already stating they will have layoffs because this mobile slump in industry is impacting them heavily. The ~40% of GF's revenue based on mobile will suffer significantly. If GF wants to be more stable, we must diversify more into automotives, etc .... however, the profit margins are much lower in many of those industries. Having such a large dependence on commodity stuff like mobile/phones/etc is a risky position to be in. The current US govt admin has made costs of groceries, fuel, interest rates so high that many families don't have money to buy new phones, and this is really hurting the mobile market. I don't see things changing under the current govt admin since they will continue to slow economy with interest rate hikes so I believe this down-turn will happen all through 2024 and into 2025 mid-year. Hopefully in US a president with a brain takes over in 2025 and then by mid-year 2025 the US economy can be somewhat back on track.
Net: GF will be in for a rough ride until IMO mid-year 2025 at least, possibly longer, this will lead to additional layoffs "if" the attrition slows down. The high attrition rates are saving GF from having layoffs currently. Eventually we lose enough critical talent that the widgets we make have no intellectual property inside them, probably are already at that state or beyond currently and then if demand does pick back up nobody will come to fab their stuff at GF. The future looks really bad overall at GF!!!
Never mind compute and mobile. The fat , lazy, incompetent , overpaid CEO and his team of even more fat incompetent lazy incompetent and overpaid SLT will sink GF in no time
Onward , forward!
Considering “compute” chips are just a sliver of actual business, it won’t affect much.
Troll. Still actively posting nonsense.
I hope GF fails miserably.
One can only hope. The final pivot. Shut the doors of this pos company already and let People get their lives back.
Globalfoundries the entity will survive but as a husk of what it was or the potential it could have been. Various units, departments, equipment, etc. will be sold off. Most of personal will be gone either leaving for roles in other companies or forced to “ transition” with the various sell offs and impending layoffs. Globalfoundries will widdle down into a smaller and smaller company. This will take years but it is path GF is on. Which each passing year it will get worse and worse. Look at us now it’s already going through the first cycles or iterations of this transformation. But it will never truly just completely vanish into nothing. And some how this will be spun by our leadership who remain as a win. I can see it now: “still alive and kicking!”
