From the current HR Manual. Aramco terminates injured, disabled or sick employees employees for both industrial and non-industrial reasons. Beware.
“An employee may be separated for industrial or non-industrial injury/ illness. The Head - Medical Services recommends that the employee be separated and the Director - Personnel Department concurs to the separation. The approval authority levels for separation are outlined in Appendix I "Approval Authorities to Separate" of this Chapter.
- Industrial
If an employee is unable to perform work due to an industrial injury or illness, disability benefits may be payable.
If an employee is declared permanently and totally disabled, employment is terminated as of the date jointly determined by the Head - Medical Services and the Director – Personnel Department. Any unused short term disability benefits are paid to the employee in a lump sum.
If an employee is not declared permanently and totally disabled, employment is terminated when short term disability benefits are exhausted. The separation date is jointly determined by the Head - Medical Services and the Director - Personnel Department.
- Non-Industrial
An employee with an incapacitating disability may be separated when:
• Short term disability benefits are exhausted;
• Medical treatment is completed; and
• The degree of disability has been determined.

The Head - Medical Services and the Director - Personnel Department establish the separation date.”
