Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

HR Complaints & Layoffs

Any idea if the consulting firm screens for individuals that were subject to HR complaints when identifying employees to layoff? Or eliminates employees that filed a legit HR complaint about a colleague? Just curious if that’s factored into these decisions.

Doubtful it would be a factor unless you are a constant complainer to HR

They can let go of someone who filed a legit complaint with HR but it won't be because of that, it will be that their position has been eliminated. You are not immune from layoffs just because your filed a complaint

No. This is definitely not a factor. If Schwab lets go of someone who filed a legit complaint, they open the company to retaliation lawsuits. It’s also protected by internal policy.

You realize SVPs are called MDs yeah?

MDs are not making the call. They may be the messengers but there’s zero chance that a layoff of this size and scope would strictly be handled internally. Schwab is probably aware of the optics (as bad as they already are) and likely wants to make sure no one could have grounds for a lawsuit.

@ulj+1nU1fjdP They are paying. Whether we think it’s a reasonable idea or not, its a different story.MD’s do not decide how many or % for their orgs.

The MD's don't decide - they could also be on the chopping block. They may give suggestions but they don't hold that power

The MD’s are deciding.

What consulting firm?? Our managers are deciding who stays and who goes. Why on earth would Schwab pay money to an outside consultant when they have to save $500M ??

Nobody knows what data goes into the decision, but it’s doubtful this would be a factor.
