COBRA for Quitters?

Did anyone quit VMware (not laid-off) and were you able to buy 1 or 2 months of COBRA (health insurance), or is COBRA just for laid-off employees?

COBRA is very expensive. You may want to look at healthcare marketplace. If you have heavy healthcare costs it can be high but if you’re in good health and able to get cover with a bronze plan it can be considerably less than Cobra.

I think some of you need to educate yourselves on COBRA. The price varies, state by state, and dependent on which coverage you decide on. It's basically a rider, and, in general, is a sh-t ton of money. You may be better off contacting a PPO directly for pricing out coverage.

Can anyone advise how much it costs a month for a single in his 50’s?

You can get cobra for 18 months after leaving. Cobra is in line with other insurance plans. It’s beneficial if you don’t want to change plans and doctors.
