Should have cancelled it and not rub it in the face of everyone who got laid off. Especially people that couldn't attend anyways (plant folk). So detached from moral reality.

Ludicrous, but what do you expect from a pig, but a grunt?
3M has committed to a 7 year contract with the PGA starting 2019 so the show goes on whether we have layoffs or not.

Our middle managers highlighting the $50 million event in LinkedIn (earning brownie points from their bosses, no doubt) while 8.5 k 3Mers around the globe anxious to find out what their next paycheck is going to look like or even where is it going to come from ?
Job elimination has nothing to do with an event. Stop conflating.
But we had a washed up actor go phygital with film festival oddity Jayshree. That alone is gamechaging…(not).
This open is 3M’s beggary to keep existing customers. For those thinking this is a perk, trust me it isnt. Was there and it was awful.
Another 3M management failure. A consistent feature with no employee benefit.
Where else would the executive team smchmooz and bend over to kiss each other's as--s? Tireman probabaly has to look up while puckering up from his kilt. Between the 3M open and the money the Executive conference waste on going to the Masters every year, pretty evident it's almost always all about them celebrating each other.
I know employees who "won" the bid to be a "volunteer" but had to use vacation to cover their time away from work and the cost of food and lodging. So if you do not live in the St. Paul area, it's NOT volunteering!.
Has it always been pay to volunteer? Just doesnt make sense.
I'm guessing it's due to a contractual obligation. Don't be surprised if there is a new sponsor of this event next year. Or... it may just go away quietly.
