Thread regarding Ford layoffs

If Bill had a 1/4 of a brain, he'd have fired Farley over the bracket dept flub

That flub was proof that Jim is not CEO material. You don't go into a global townhall and bash an entire, and fundamental, department of the company! And then he had to walk it back the next day when the outrage was fierce.

Can you imagine Alan Mulally, it Mark Fields, or heck even furniture red face boy, saying something so stupid and flippant?

He should have been canned the next day. Nope, Bill continues to sing his praises. SMH

Thank God for the Bracket Department.

I hear that the transfer request list into the Bracket Department is a mile long!

Seriously? There is a department for just brackets? You would think they would be integrated in other areas. I thought I heard there was no bracket department.

I believe one of the past GSR (volunteer retirement 2021) from the brkt department is working with Pendant Publishing from NY on a historical book depicting many of the past brackets that have been used on vehicles from the companies Founding until the latest models.Of course there are plans for many pictures with accurate historical explanations ranging from development to failures and lessons learned. There are also plans for 1:1 tear out cards in the back that the reader can fold into some of the many brackets in the book (think like orgami).Afer the reader constructs the bracket, it cane displayed on the desk or hung the wall.

He went off script in the Bloomberg interview (feb 2022) and the sept 2022 yahoo news interview when he threw the ICE engineers under the bus in an ignorant and offensive way. In April 2022, august 2022 key knowledge base of ICE was SIRPED, anyone who could read the writing on the wall and was close to within a few yrs of retirement took the lump sum in nov 2022 and left with a great body of ICE knowledge and ability to mentor the new folks.

Best of luck on ,’newly refocusing on hybrids’, when for the ICE portion of hybrid, your experts and knowledge base to mentor future experts went out the door.

And sorry, India, Brazil, Mexico and China cannot replace what was lost.

And good luck on ‘all electric in Europe by 2025’ which was proclaimed last year as well.

This flub is why carcar rarely goes off script and sticks to reading the teleprompter. His "I'm better than thou" attitude is impossible to hide. He knows it. Bill knows it. So he's almost always scripted.

Nov 2022 escapee/retiree here.

In august, powertrain department had a great presentation by CAE folks on a bracket issue, resolution of field issue, two alternatives were proposed, very good engineering analysis presented.

Depart mgr asked very good questions, in depth and spot on. My first real observation of him (we were moved around at the time).

He was part of the late august SIRP.

It must be aluminium brackets that warps when they get heat treated.
The warpage runs deep and flows into other assemblies.
Bottome line ford is warped.

I've been supporting the bracket department, mainly in the CAE analysis, running modal vibration fatigue analysis among other simulations. Despite what has been said lately, there are still many employed in the department. Not too sure why we have recently labeled the redheaded stepchild of the company. Go ahead, delete the dept and all brackets, etc from the vehicle and see how far it drives...... ICE, EV, HYBD, AUTO LVL4, they all need brackets etc...... Just like the gar

Brackets are awesome and Ford needs more bracketology

I’m so sick of them whining about brackets. They’ve been whining for 20+ years about this. There is a lot of complexity in vehicles (due to all the requirements) and of course, there will be a lot of brackets. Just stupid. #Fordactuallyneedsmorebrackets
