Business as usual: Transit Recall

What does CarCar expect from a smaller and disgruntled workforce?

Keeping the Recall King title for 2023.

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2014-2016 Ford Transit Connect models due to an issue with the front door latch pawl.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the front door latch pawl may crack and prevent the door from latching properly.

The hazards: a door that doesn’t latch properly could increase the risk of injury.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Components: front door latch pawl

Affected vehicles: select 2014-2016 Ford Transit Connect models built between August 9th, 2013, and February 1st, 2016.

Number of vehicles affected: 112,225

The fix: dealers will inspect and replace the front door latches as necessary, free of charge.

This sounds like the same recall that affected Fusion and Escape several years ago. I would guess that the latch design was shared cross-carline and the failure statistics on Transit Connect have only now reached the point where a recall is justified.
