Let's think in your scenario:
- you work in the medical device industry, which is very unfeasible to the majority of tech companies because you are slow.. very slow..
- Your software stack is pathetic.. you use languages that few companies use
- You do not know anything about system design, modern coding patterns, different protocols, security, etc.
You are more like outdated dinossours that will stay at least 1 year unemployed. Your pathetic severance will not pay your bills, you will be behind your mortgage and a lot of cry and pain will happen.
Except!!! If you start studying 16h / day and get up to date with the modern software stack. Be prepared to be interviewed but junior engineers that only know leetcode and if you do not know the algos, they will disqualify you even not know how to raise a webserver.
