Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Laidoff, with ongoing critical project nobody taking over

Whole team gone. This is so ridiculous. Project owned by another VP. I wonder if any VP cares the whole business any more than his own butt.

The only thing "critical" in here is the amount of ego st-----g and virtue signaling you are doing. By the way, I'm sure that VP who doesn't care about your pet project is probably laughing all the way to the bank!

Lots of ongoing projects get ceased or discontinued all of a sudden in the middle of it at Cisco. I've seen many times. It's not uncommon at Cisco, regardless of layoffs or other reasons. Who cares? Remember, people are doing for nothing at this company every day and there is nothing to learn, nothing to write in your resume.

Unlike other tech companies, people at Cisco don't even know any project methodology because most people don't have any work experience outside Cisco, been at the company for too long, 15 yrs and 20 yrs and more, which is out of the question. Bunch of childish immature people despite their age.

no such thing as critical project at CSCO. Only acquisitions. Often acquire a BFF's or a relative's startup. Nothing gets done internally there with that tribal work culture.

I've been on many "critical projects" that went no where. I think I may be on one at this very moment. Time will tell.

Compared to high-level decision-making, the success or failure of a project appears insignificant. Don't take it too seriously.
