Get rid of the useless middle managers

I don't believe that it will ever happen, although CS would be a much better place without those mostly useless and often toxic people. Maybe a miracle will happen and CS will finally decide to get rid of them?

Folks won't forget and they'll be furious at the EC if this layoff doesn't stick to their 'inverted pyramid' plan. They've said clearly that most cuts will hit the top ranks, leaving the regular workers mostly alone.

I concur. No way this layoff is focused at the highest levels.

It is a complete lie that will make them look like id--ts if they don't follow through with an 'inverted pyramid'.

About this “Inverted pyramid” comment- a news person says this repeatedly about politicians, but it applies here too: watch what they do, not what they say.

Their 20% cut is to be focused on an "inverted pyramid" targeting high-ranking executives that would effectively translate to >50% of Managing Directors and Executive Council are cut.

My team is openingly betting the complete opposite of what they say. We bet it will be the lowest levels hit the hardest and the faceless EC remains untouched.

A friend came across an internal posting for Mng Dir with a salary range of 400-600k…. They could layoff a handful and trim all the fat with very few people impacted.

Lets not just jump into getting rid of middle managers. Lets set up a meeting to discuss why we think middle managers should be laid off and a follow up meeting to revisit and see if we still feel that way.

@1gxr+1nHHLubl “ random devs with no clue what they were doing or why they were doing it” : if random devs had decent leadership they would know why /what they needed to do, hence the problem being with the level above

@1gxr+1nHHLubl - I think you’ll forgive my incredulity at the notion the EC have any notion of what they are doing the past month. I’m pretty sure I could do a better job for sure. In fact, I’m also fairly sure a drunk ho-o with a script written by ChatGPT suffering from robo-COVID could instill greater support from the community.

Then what would I aspire to be some day if there is no middle management?

Lol, funny how all the grunt workers at every company seems to think the problem is with the level above. Yeah, I’m sure a company of random devs with no clue what they were doing or why they were doing it would be a wild success.

60+, you meant grade level, not age *(I hope)

oh they will go after them - but they have to balance so they can show they were not discriminating. Lot of people with 20+ years make big $$$ they could get rid of

if everyone they fired was a 60+ this would be a better company.

It will never happen.
