Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

How do raises work?

i hace recently joined EM, and was wondering if raises are given every year?
For inflation and based on PA? or how do they work, should I expect yearly raises to beat inflation, even though I'm still in the same cl level?

I wouldn’t worry about raises. Chances are you will get pipped before that comes into play. Start interviewing with other companies now before you have to move is the best advice. I don’t think you have a chance if you’re coming to a layoff site asking these questions.

@2zyv+1nGpjkwS So, reading between the lines, it's going to be a Teenie we---e one. If you want a huge one (a real leg shaker!) I've got one that i will share with a very select few.

Awe. You sweet summer child.

Unless you are at the very top of the pile and/or get a CL bump, your raises will NEVER beat inflation. Have fun making less and less every year.

May the odds be forever in your favor. Welcome to the annual hunger games

Your rank (most important), age, annual company performance (sometimes tied to inflation) and where you’re located on your current CL salary band.

HR uses a secrete formula to calculate your annual raise taking account into all the factors above. It’s a complete black box and your direct supervisor can only influence your raise by rank you at a different spot. Once the percentage is generated in CareerConnect (I believe the timing is around early November), it’s going to take approvals from 3-4 levels above to overwrite that.

No good raises if you are in your 50's in the technical group.

There is no inflation because of bidenomics so don’t concern yourself with a raise. If you recently joined, you are safe from NSI this year, but next year you will find out what NSI is.

Typically if you do well you get a few percent above inflation every year

Do NOT expect a raise to meet or beat inflation. CL, rank, part of the company you are in, and how close you are to your reference curve all play into raises.

Many factors go into when you would receive a pay increase.
Ranking is the biggest factor.
Good luck
