The blame game

Is anybody else utterly tired of being forced into another round of the blame game when something goes wrong instead of everybody working together to solve the issue? It’s all about who to pin the blame on and how to protect your own behind instead of finding a solution that will remove the problem altogether. Is this just my group or do others have similar experiences? I haven’t been at Cisco that long, but this is already getting very old very quickly.

I've been in several different roles, and that seems like it is across the board at Cisco.

When you set up yearly "survivor" style lay-offs, many folks are making alliances, shuffling blame, and creating their own little groups to try to survive.

If you are catching the blame end of the stick, my advice would be to get more friends to talk you up to your manager. Cisco is definitely one of those companies where it's just a game of corporate shoots and ladders - and you have to play the game to survive.

Working with my immediate organization / product is awesome. Very open and collaborative. However if you need to work outside of that it totally su-ks. Different tools and expectations completely.
