Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

GSSO - No Customer Expenses Allowed

Dear Security Decision Maker,

I have not seen a response to my email that I sent yesterday informing you that I am unable to travel to your location for a meeting, dinner, and fun activity. I do apologize but due to my executive leadership and senior leadership taking unnecessary trips that resulted in a significant amount of wasteful spending and expenses, there is no expense budget for meeting and entertaining customers.

Please understand that our executive leadership is still asking for an update on the status of our proposal and where you are at in making the decision to go with us. I understand you are out to dinner and fun activity with our competition but would appreciate your attentiveness to our proposal.

If I survive this upcoming next round of layoffs, I hope to be able to take you and your team out to lunch in the near future. Preferably somewhere that has value meals for everyone at $5 or less per head. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Sincerely,
Your cheap, no-fun, and no-swag giving Cybersecurity Sales Specialist

It’s fair enough. At least my VP and SVP had the decency to step out of the meeting they were attending in another region to explain this to me and my team. Huge respect to them because I found out it actually made them late for their team building exercise which then knocked on to their dinner plans

LR food tip:

  • McDonald's is hiring!
  • When things get really bad, can always dumpster dive at one of the many fine Tasman Avenue Cisco cafe arenas.
  • When things get really, really bad; there is are many tent vacancies up near Fisherman's Warf.

Look peon.. sorry your actual business case for travel got rejected. But the ELT needs extravagant company paid vacations to places like Hawaii. How else will they have the clarity of mind to spin these annual (quarterly) LRs?

No worries, friend. Customers are totally going to choose Cisco over all the others because the Customer eXperience is so grrrreeeaaaaat!

The customer is completely unconcerned about endless software defects and a software upgrade process less customer friendly than a double wisdom tooth extraction.
