Can I just take the 4 month option if I have a new job lined off, and take a 4 month "bonus", or is there some reporting in place where they stop paying severance when I get a new job?

It’s yours unless you find work at Cisco. There is a tremendous amount of detail and information in the package and website. Please make sure you read it and have it reviewed by an attorney just to make sure you understand what they are asking you to sign.

from what I understand, it is only stopped if you get another job at Cisco, and then you have to pay the prorated severance back. If you go to another company, it should be free and clear
I think that’s totally fine! I have a few friends that have done this exact thing between jobs and they make serious bank for a few months. Severance + sign on bonus + better pay at new job
