Thread regarding UPS layoffs

Why nearly no women UPS drivers? Look at the practice strike pickets to confirm this.

The Ups practice strike pickets all over the news media have almost no women UPS drivers. Women should equally get a chance to make $42.00 hr. and paid benefits. Checked multiple videos in multiple states.....same pattern. Anyone else seeing this?

nitty gritty get to it reason is... ups management gets paid partly by a bonus system and stock options if they meet numbers. either cheat the numbers or haggle and push employees to unattainable goals to get your money. no one reaches top performance, only top irritation and frustration. workers/drivers need goals they can proudly accomplish to be happy. happy faces serve customers well. dump the bonus system and just pay mgmt. a salary.

The drive for diversity is a form of insanity with no bounds. Reasoning with these brain washed woke folls is a waste of time.

Yes, funny, now being a women is apparently a disability that should be address with special need production expectations.

Equal opportunity to be a driver yes, special treatment based on gender, no.

The requirements to be a driver are negotiated between Corporate management and the union. Money and production drives these talks, not s-xism. The union will support women if they want to do the driver job, but most women do not.

UPS Corporate only cares about one thing making money. Package management only cares about one thing, delivering the packages. If women want the delivery job, they can bid on it. They do not want the job.

H.R. mgrs. use many statistics to make sure diversity is met. Most are not public as some may find sources odd or irrelevant. No stone is left unturned in order to reach the goal of equality for everyone.

would not be surprised if corp. also notices all male drivers(nearly) in news media and checks into why this might be. public image matters.

A few legendary businesses are just learning that the out of date-- make the employee miserable so they will work faster--just does not work on today's youth and usually backfires on production. Good treatment of all and good production mirror each other.

Is sounds like the 'bottom line' is supposed to be to make 50% of all drivers women whether women want the job or not. Let them decide for themselves. The union and the driver bid sheet is there for them.

It is only an dilemma to agenda driven people that do not care about what you want, only what they want. If women want the driver job, it is available to them. Most have other professioal goals.

What is it a dilemma if women do not want to be drivers? What happened to having a choice? Insisting otherwise for the sake of diversity is insane.

The root cause of fewer women drivers is that women do not want the job. Forcing women to change is not the answer nor is forcing the job to change. It is up to women if they want this particular job, i.e., being a driver. They do not want it.

The bottom line is other major industries have faced this dilemma decades ago and fixed it. U.P.S. needs to find the root cause and fix it. The root cause is never found or fixed by just saying women are not applying for the job.

The UPS driver job success is not based on 'personal best'. The union contract agrees to meet certain production goals for drivers. The union also sees all members as due paying brothers and sisters. If a women want to be a driver, the union supports them and protects them from harassment.

Women simply either do not want the driver job or it turns out to be more challenging than they expected it to be. I have seen women do it who were outstanding and others that decide it is not for them. They can bid on the driver job, try it out, and decide for themselves.

The aggravation and pressure does not mysteriously get focused on women, although it may feel that way. Being a driver is a challenging job and the probation period is difficult for men and women. UPS management just wants to get the packages delivered, by male or female, it really does not matter to them.

ups has alot of women preloaders it pays $15.50 h.r to start. it is only for 3.5 hours per day. but the job is intense lifting and non stop. the most hated job at ups. the heavy lifting and dragging packages out of trailers and harder work than being a driver proves women can easily be a ups driver. but when they bid driver the aggravation and pressure mysteriously gets focused on them. it is like they are being set up to fail and encouraged to quit or be fired. the male culture does not want them there sometimes but the females really want to do a good job. some males feel this as a challenge but it is not . it is only the need to work ones personal best and not be offensive in anyway.

Ya, some people just don't get it. UPS driver jobs are union jobs that are bid on by seniority. Women do not want the driver job. There are other jobs either in management or within the union that are more attractive to them than being a driver.

No doors are not closed. The door is open for all women to be a UPS driver. Women do not want the job.

What single Mom would not want make $41.50 hr. with all dental and healthcare paid? We all have to work anyway so why not get paid for it? Females not applying for the job is obviously not the problem here at all but could there be a door closed that needs to be opened?

I worked the preload at UPS for 5 years and saw the drivers daily AM and PM. These drivers have very long days, and delivering a mattress or an air conditioner, even with a dolly, is exhausting when you are working long 11 hour days and not getting home until after 7 PM. In and out of the truck all day long, climbing stairs, wearing your body out is no fun. Most women choose not to do the job, even though it is available to them.

Many jobs exist that are much harder than a U.P.S. driver. Each truck has a dolly to carry the boxes to customer. LIghter boxes are handed off. Driver has a sit down job and can travel long distances before even getting up unless they have a in town or subdivision route. Drivers do not even load their own trucks, morning preloaders load their trucks. The job is doable by females or males. They can request to only work 9.5 hrs, 5 days per week. Weekends off except December.

Apparently some people expect UPS to force women to be drivers even if they do not want to be for the sake of "Diversity".

The overall male to female ratio at UPS IS 50%. Hello?! Women do not want to do the driver job!!! Hello? Seriously, how clueless can some people be?

The unspoken rule of thumb for large corporate H.R. managers is check the population ratio in men to women in each area the company has a location. Most are 50-60% men or 50-60% women. So mostly if employees number 50% men and 50% women at each location rarely is there a red flag diversity is missing. Same percent needs to meet all departments as not to have traditional gender roles but strict fairness for any employee. Obviously, the U.P.S. pictures do not show 50% women drivers and needs mended.

Most of the diversity and inclusiveness insanity has its roots in academia, not the real life challenges of being a UPS package driver. There is no way to soften the driver position to attract more women to it. All women have the opportunity to apply for the driver job, but most choose not to.

The lack of women drivers in the photos all over is proof enough work needs to done at UPS to diversify and incorporate more women drivers. Photos do not lie.

Women have to first be hired on to be able to bid as driver. Sometimes male drivers are hired off street to be a driver once probation is over. They do not always go thru working preload first and then bid onto driver position. Some women are military mechanics etc. and have no issues with heavy weight lifting and the like. Not all women are alike in strength same as not all men are alike in strength.

Driver jobs are bid on by seniority irrelevant of gender. The driver job is extremely physical and not for everyone. Most men cannot handle the rigors of being a UPS driver. Some woman choose to be drivers and are great at it, but most choose not too.

fair labor contract needed so no strike or layoffs, same number of qualified women hired as drivers as men. keep it simple.

The U.P.S. teamsters local unions have Facebook pages with group photos of U.P.S. drivers. Sparce to no women drivers. Clues to a problem that needs addressed. Both men and women have families to feed.
