Everyone knew it was coming. Return to office was just a way to get people to quit without having to pay severance out. Now, mass layoffs will be next.

Even if we are not layed off, what is the 2024 benefits enrollment going to look like? Probably going to make us pay more for our benefits to cut costs too.
Coming from other large Fortune 100's, this matches typical timing:
"You might get a small amount in October, but I'm thinking they will cut ~10% of staff and a bulk will be in early December."
Now, if this is truly a deep 20% cut per today's email then everyone should be out interviewing because 1/5 of us will be gone in the next 4.5 months.
September TG is tested and ready to go. They don't even need the entire TG workforce for September. The majority of their job is done. Many have already started transitioning to other teams.
Why wouldn't it be? Why wait? Unless the job is directly tied to someone performing work IN September work there is no reason to not start cutting
Why would it be sooner than TG-September?
They will move quickly on this.
I honestly think November/December is more likely. Announce in July, let people squirm and worry. Look for new jobs, etc. Gives more people time to leave voluntarily. The more people who leave voluntarily, the less expense on severance they have to pay. You might get a small amount in October, but I'm thinking they will cut ~10% of staff and a bulk will be in early December.
@cef+1nFklONN Of course they have. It's a pretty regular occurrence around these parts. It feels like every 2 years or so the severance packages come out, and this site is revitalized once again.
My two cents: Layoffs will happen October, if not sooner. Attrition will pick way up before they start.
Has CS done large layoffs before?
I don't know. This feels like it will happen sooner.
