Thread regarding NCR Corp. layoffs

What the heck is going on

We are all hearing different things pertaining to this split. Will CE be let go, will they transfer your job, am I going to retail or atm? The not knowing is getting ridiculous. First we are told we will find out at the end of August, next it's the end of July then it's the middle of August. What is every one else hearing?

Sad to see most employees didn’t want to join a union because of “dues” and there was a time when many unions just like CEOs got greedy. You coulda had a voice you could have had more options. Maybe go work for UPS as a driver and get 42 bucks an hour. It’s not easy work either. But you get paid what your worth because you pay your dues. And keep the company from taking advantage of you. But this comment will be downvoted by most who would rather pay for a latte than pay for representation from a Union.

Not there anymore but I don’t get this. You’re saying you’re a full time employee who will become a contractor? Or are they laying you off with severance pay then just hiring you back but on a contract basis ? This is some scary sh-t. I don’t wanna think their idea is they convert you to a contractor status. And not pay a severance. I wouldn’t put it pass them to say if you don’t accept the contractor status that mean your ending your employment and severance doesn’t have to be paid if you voluntarily quit.

How in the world would they change a CE into a “contractor”?

Contractors have pre arranged call requests, they choose when and if they want to work and which jobs to take on. No on call, no weekends.

Financial calls are hot now, which contractor is going to drop everything for a 2 hr response?

Single worker area techs maybe forced into working as contractors, this way both company’s can use you, it also is better for NCR because your not an actual employee and they don’t manage you or give you any benefits. The only way it could be good for a contractor is if they make their own company, then charge NCR a lot to do the work and cover the area, the problem can be if they can hire cheap labor in the area, because NCR honestly doesn’t care about the customer, they just want cheap. I was let go almost a year ago, I could run any call in the area, could actually fix things right and close 8-10 calls a day and they didn’t bounce right back. That said, they hired 2 guys who knew nothing and will take 5 years to figure it out and thousands in training, if they don’t quit in a month or two…… cheaper is better, right?

I have been told dispatch is splitting the system 1st week of august. The 2nd week is the announcement to who is going where. Sept will be running a soft op in new positions of the split. I’m a one man area so not sure how the he-l they can split and get calls ran! I’ve said before I don’t think this is a good thing for the CE.

NCR is a tiny company in the scheme of things. This split is extremely costly due to reverse synergies. I feel sorry for the current employees and customers of what was once a great company.

Fasten your seat belts, going to be a rough ride for whoever rides along till the end. Pro tip is get your data and employment records backed up, including personal milage records for the vehicle, phone contacts, email contacts and anything on the cloud. You will be locked out and your phone factory reset right after your terminated. If you use your NCR email for anything, change it to a personal account now. Then you will deal with HR to get tax forms, everything will be a PITA. Prepare for the worst.

So what the heck is going on? That would be what we would call the $64 dollar question. The split is to make one or both companies sellable. So sooner or later someone is gonna own us.

You need to understand the “supposed” leaders have no fracking clue of what they are doing. A split of this type and size has never been done before. The “children” and interns cant even wrap their head around what to do.

So I saw on workday that I’m in a “compensation review” with a due date of August 5th by the district manager.

I have no idea what that is about, likely something to do with the split. Currently a generalist CE so I’m up in the air.

No one is talking, it’s unbelievable how tight lipped this whole thing is.

Yeah so the confirmed news is that all CEs are going to be let go, with pensions cancelled and 401ks witheald until they complete the mandatory diversity training and start using their preferred pronouns.
