We have been told there is no budget for customer meetings for the remainder of the FY. When we need expense the most to try to close what is remaining, we are being told there is no expensing allowed. Anyone have any insight into this.

Dear Mr / Mrs Customer,
I apologize I had to cancel our meeting, dinner and fun activity for you and your team but due to my executive leadership taking unnecessary trips that resulted in a significant amount of expense, I am no longer able to travel to your location for our meeting, dinner, and fun. My leadership is still asking for the Purchase Order so if I could possibly get that processed on your side after your dinner and fun activity with our competition, I would appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Your cheap, no-fun, and no-swag giving Cybersecurity Sales Specialist
Layoffs coming to reign in GSSO expenses and to pay for next fiscals boondoggles by leadership. Fiscally irresponsible behavior by GSSO ELT to have all these planning meetings which were nothing more than boondoggles but now the field must pay for it with their jobs.
Your security sales should not be attending Cisco Live in the first place. Security practitioners do not attend Cisco Live. Someone tell your Executives that. You are selling to the wrong people as usual.
@hmo+1nE3AjDI CR have them some cash since they are one of our multiple NUMBER! ONE! TOP! PRIORITIES! and they spent it all on boondoggles for themselves instead of better products or sales people.
GSSO needs to look at everyone that attended Cisco Live in EMEA and US. It was ridiculous to see that many from GSSO at each of those. They treated it as one big party. The amount of T&E for both of those especially EMEA should be looked into. No reason to have that many GSSO in EMEA and then same in US. Another example of incompetent leadership that is resulting in no customer meetings and entertaining.
Overlays don’t cover expenses anyway. AMs buy the donuts.
PAN here. Our fiscal is same as your and there is no expense restrictions for us. We are battling for some of the same deals. Good to know that you can’t entertain customers for year end deals and building new deals. Being former Cisco myself, GSSO Execs and Sr Leadership probably had all these internal leadership meetings and boondoggles in the name of planning and how important they think they are but forgot how expense funds that the field needs. Typical GSSO Leadership.
They blew all the money on internal meetings and all there big trips, which left the field with no expense money to close out business and drive new business for next fiscal year. It is sad that one cannot even go to customers for the next few weeks due to leadership spending an excess of money on internal trips that was not needed.
It just means they are out of OpEx / likely on a budget freeze until next fiscal. This is fairly common EOY.
