Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Schwab now has massive issues with diversity

I'm not one to go down this road often because I think too many people these days cry wolf when it comes to diversity and inclusion

Having said that, what this return to office mandate means for minorities is more time commuting and away from our families. More struggle. More debt. As a single African American mom, Schwab not only is telling me they don't care about my well being and work life balance, they are making it even more difficult for me and my family. Instead of looking to the future and supporting their employees in a modern workplace, our CEO gets to work remotely from his cozy office in Ohio while forcing his employees that are spread all over the country to work mostly alone in small cubicles.

As a woman of color the decision Walt and his leaders made yesterday did nothing but make my life more difficult to manage and afford. Life was hard enough already Walt

The people making these decisions do not face the same hardships that everyday people face. Their desire to keep the real estate market profitable by artificially forcing full occupation is also turning each city into an island of wealth where only the upper crust can afford to live. It isn’t just nurses and teachers who can’t afford to live anywhere near the cities they serve. It is also the average Schwab employee. Our RTO will help feed the corporate real estate market so the fat cats can get fatter.

My husband and I both work for the firm. He was hired on to work 100% remote. We got out routine taking care of our child ( not old enough to be in her own) .With this email about October and a message from my manager today, that due to tech issues he wants me back in the office this coming Monday ( not my fault they have tech issues, but blamed on me)...Not sure how we can say this company is all about work and family balance. Does not sound like it anymore....

It's not just about diversity. It's about work life balance. The world has changed. Walt himself said remote work is here to stay. But he got mad people weren't coming into the office so he flipped out and took away the one thing Schwab employees had.

Schwab has always put the b.s. "we care" face on. They don't care about race, s-xuality, gender, any of the cr-p they say they do. End of day, it's a bunch of old, white money grubbers who should just go off and die.

Schwab doesn't care about it's employees. Simple as that. Doesn't matter what color you are we're all in the same boat.

I had to make a decision to move closer to my parents in Memphis who both have dementia. That was the only way I could afford to help them. Now what do I do? If I stay with Schwab I have to move and abandon my parents. I can no longer afford to live in Denver. Feels hopeless

Hard to argue. I'm not a minority but I am a single mother of three. I'm devastated by the news yesterday. I couldn't sleep at all last night. I surrendered my car last fall to help my father (who now lives with me). Now I have to find another job that will allow me to work from home. I can't afford to spend 10 hours each week driving into the office. I can't afford the food in their cafeteria.

I just don't understand any of this
