Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Explain this to me like I'm 5

Our team is spread out over 8 different locations. I'm supposed to commute 11 hours per week to work, be surrounded by loud people who I don't work with in any capacity. And then join the same meetings virtually that I was from home (because nobody on my team is in the same location)

Where is the logic in that? If you want in person collaboration force everyone in a team or organization to move to the same city. Don't lie to us for years and on a dime out of nowhere change course and give people three months to prepare

Forced attrition at it’s finest, get a medical accomodation, ADA trumps all

OK 5 year old.

  • Pre-covid you were all in the office
  • During COVID, you made decisions assuming COVID would last a long time
  • It didn't
  • Time to return to pre-COVID

Capish?

Ok here 5 year old you:

  1. The company is not doing well
  2. The company has to cut costs
  3. Laying people off is not the best option due to severance costs
  4. Enforcing something so ridiculous as RTO theoretically would make people quit (see#2)
