Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

No semiconductor company can operate with WFH

Why do employees think Executive management will address their concerns and keep employee friendly policies in place? Employees are given only as much as management thinks is necessary to achieve business goals, no more, no less. WFH was a concession given at a time when employee retention was a concern. Companies have the upper hand now, so expect fewer incentives to stay. No semiconductor company can operate with WFH. Test teams still worked onsite during the pandemic. Why should they be the only ones to come to the office? It is called work for a reason. If you don’t like company policies, then you can leave. That has always been your only option. Institutional investors are the real owners and they expect the board and the C suite to maximize their returns. Employees are just a tool to produce profits for shareholders.

Sadly, this is all true. Bumped from @2sdx+1mOwKxDk.

If you aren’t going in to the office 4 days a week, you are asking to be let go. If you live anywhere near an office and remain remote, your position doesn’t need to be in the US or UK, and will be moved overseas.
