Why would you expect the company to care about you or to respect you? You are nothing but a number. The company is and has always been in it for itself. The management as well. I wonder where some of you get your ideas that this is a "family" or something similar. It never was and it will never be.

What do you mean by the VP was nasty? I thought it was handled by an HR person and a VP with a script like fake statement…

I don't see anyone saying this place is like a family. People are just complaining about the mistreatment because there are companies out there who do treat their employees better than MDT does. I know because I left and found one of those companies. Medtronic doesn't deserve your talent. You don't have to despise your job/employer. Even if you are just another number at other companies, their compensation is higher, they invest in your growth and actually promote you based on skill and not "years in the role" and you can count on your bonus and annual equity.
Don't be loyal to any company. Get paid

That being said, the VP that laid me off did not have to be a nasty mo---------r about it. Just state the facts and be done with the damn call.

Well, the company is not a person so have no feelings or motivations. But otherwise, yes ... it's not personal ... it's just business.
