Thread regarding Ford layoffs

I hope for the best, but…

I'm not particularly optimistic about layoffs here and I hope you are sending your resumes. What makes others believe that it is just a rumor?

I got bad news for anyone looking outside. As the fed keeps reducing the money supply and raising interest rates that means there is less money for companies to borrow or borrow at an affordable interest rate. No different at the commercial level than the retail space. This means that companies have less money to expand their business, which in turn means less open positions overall. The job market is not hot. It is cooling with each interest rate hike. Until the fed stabilizes interest rates or lowers them, expect not as many job opportunities. The fed actually wants to increase unemployment to slow personal spending to get inflation under control. The slug of money issued in 2020 for Covid has created a massive disturbance to the value of the USD.

An LL4 confirmed, despite the gag order, that layoffs are coming. They said it will make last August look small.

It will hit all levels of the org, so those worried about the LL5+ ranks, don't. LL3s and LL4s are all on the chopping block.

LL2s+ will "retire".

The layoffs are coming this year that is for sure. Some of the dates that are floating, those are not firmed up. Like everything at Ford it is slow going and behind projected schedules, after all our girl KR is no longer on point.
