Signs that there will be layoffs

Now that the rumors about big layoffs started circulating, I intensified my search for a new job and I hope that I will get a good offer as soon as possible. One should always be prepared. However, I would like to hear the arguments of those who claim that cuts will happen soon - why do you think that layoffs are inevitable?

I'm in LD and our classes have shifted greatly as to where headcount is going. Those numbers are lower than last year. Our trainings have been canceled (as in trainings for my LD team). Talks have shifted from growth and forever to hey you better own your development.

Because they combined two very large wireless networks into ONE. Network grooming and consolidation is done, theres ONE network now. All employee redundancy must go. Now with the big push on AI and ML, lesser need for employees. T-Mobile was around 53-55k employees before Sprint take over, they'll want to get lower than that I believe. Reducing OPEX makes a company more valuable.

Here are some signs:
An odd silence from your department heads, including regularly scheduled meetings/call canceled.
Most if not all communication will grind to a halt.
Most department heads have to keep updating who will go and be ready to pull the trigger as soon as those above them say so.
Names are sent to HR and legal and severance packages are put together. These are boilerplates that just auto calculate time with company for severance.
It will happen prior to any stocks, ESP stocks or bonuses are vested.
Usually occurs early in a quarter, as they will keep you on books for several weeks without you actually working. It’s a financial thing to take the charge off in that fiscal quarter.
They can bypass WARN act as it usually involves hundred of people, but in small groups nationwide as opposed to one city or state.

For original poster: People who have been and will be involved in the decision making process for reductions are weighing in or talking to others who weigh in here. There is a ton of BS on here, but what's true is that there absolutely will be major reductions in late Q3, early Q4. Nothing else that happens before then or that anyone else says about specific teams will change that. It's happening, periodt.

Because T-Mobile spent many years discriminating against a Christian who was looking out for a little black boy in a parking lot on Jan 9th 2019z

Also could be the fact that the Japanese brokered a deal to sell an American company at an extremely discounted rate under our crooked SEC.
