Thread regarding NCR Corp. layoffs

That's not true at all

I don't think it's true that most people here do the bare minimum. How would that even be possible?
Maybe the bosses' favorites can afford to do almost nothing, while most people are actually overwhelmed with work.

Can tell you another thing that was going on, new hires were being hired as techs, not knowing anything, starting from zero, making the same money as 10 year technicians, in some cases the new hires made more. This leads to very low moral and segregation among the ranks of technician, the newbies were let out to fail, nobody would mentor them to rid them of bad habits, led to high turnover, the sr people then got unlimited overtime, some loved it, some hated it, but the work environment was horrific

It’s been said by TM’s that the company(s) will have to hire to balance workload once the split happens.
Well I’ve seen people leave in recent weeks (no req listed after) and areas that had open reqs in previous months just disappear.
There will be plenty of work and OT as the uncertainty grows of how this will shake out with the CE population for techs who stay.

My area is stretched out so we are busy from start to finish majority of our time. ES Mobility shows your travel and worked time on Tasks plus don’t forget GPS on our vehicles. They know where you’ve visited so don’t spend an hour at Wawa when you just need gas.

Bogus reporting is all it takes, change the call type from flm to slm, your response and resolve times change, you can stretch the call and put comments to cover your time, even write off a consumable part. Techs have been doing this for decades, most managers know it but will never say anything because it makes them look bad.

I dunno where this is was at. 2 hours work paid for 8 as far as technical people. Contractor maybe. I dunno. Ncr had mean time to repair listing documented.. This basically means if a paper jam was given a 30 minute repair time your were expected to have if done within that range of time. Of course this doesn’t include travel.

If your in a small group with a large area to cover you are screwed, but working in a city with 30 techs, many do very little work, clear a paper jam in 2 minutes, stay on the call 2 hours, at the end of the day get paid for 8 hours, maybe actually work 2 hours including drive time. One ethical tech could do the work of 4 of these lazy ones, in the end they all get the same increases, usually nearly nothing, no real incentive to do more
