It used to be very nice to work here. It's still hard for me to believe that it's become this bad.

Geoff has brought in leaders with no connection to mission or culture and as a result thr conoany is meaner and more impersonal than ever before. It would have taken an excellent leader to preserve that and integrate covidien, he is not up to the task.
Sad reality what Geoff did to Medtronic. Work as little as possible until he’s gone.

And you have Omar - a failed ceo (chum of jack welch and his cadres) to thank.
Exponential growth is not possible
90% comes back to financial performance. Unrealistic expectations/targets, which causes us to constantly steal sales from the next quarter at quarter end every single quarter, excessive dei garbage (sorry, it's not the top business priority), outdated leadership and now a revolving door of leadership, excessive inventory accumulation soaking up too much cash, lack of accountability is probably at the top of the list (hey let's buy these companies, who gives a crud if we will realize the benefits), etc. Back to the trenches, gotta earn that 50% MIP gift.
Greed
Culture is toxic. Just do your job and nothing more.
Leadership. MDT used to be a place people came to and stayed - 10 years, 20, even 30. But now the fad is to bring outside leaders to run the buisnesses, to run ops, technology, quality etc... and these leaders typically punch the clock for 3-5 years and then take their next big opportunity outside. The soul of the company is being lost with the contempt the new leadership has for veterans who were part of that old culture. We used to have a strategy for growth but now its all about how to save a nickle.
