Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Outsourcing

I wouldn't be surprised if Chevron continued its outsourcing strategy this year. So many companies are laying off at this time that it would draw very little criticism and bad publicity. I might be wrong about this, but do you think our leadership would miss an opportunity like this?

Outsourcing is a False economy because typically the people are very under qualified. I’ve been shocked. Really.

First and foremost, outsourcing eliminates all your full-time employee "problems" - benefits, HR issues, complaints, people taking vacation, drawn-out layoff paperwork. Years ago, outsourcing was viewed as desperation from over-worked companies, a temporary solution that would be solved by permanent hiring. Now it is viewed as a great way to bring in opinion-less drones and get rid of them the instant the dividend needs a boost. As the average Chevron employee (now) isn't going to be around more than maybe 15 years anyways, why invest in them?

I have enjoyed quite a few amazing expense account trips to BA to visit our lovely staff there. The beef is amazing. Malbec is tolerable also.

Chevron has and continues to Outsource all the time to Manila, Makati and Buenos Aires. Why do I say that. Because everyone knows they get paid way less than U.S. based employees and the Benefits are much less. But they are not contractors. No, they are mostly full time Chevron Employees. How do I know this? Because I used to talk to them face to face and over the phone and personally got to know some of those folks. One of the shrewdest moves CVX Mgmt made with the issue of Outsourcing. Even if by my understanding the company is woke and benevolent and now a full time Technology Co.

If you can do your job from home every day, don’t think somebody from India couldn’t. And at a fraction of your cost.

Or maybe it will go straight to an artificial intelligence system.

Oh year! Bring it on! EoI, then a few weeks later, I consult on the same topics for the equivalent of double time - yes, outsource that, please!
