Thread regarding 3M layoffs

167.00 a month

Decatur announced 1000.00 every 6 months as a retention bonus thru 2025 for all affected PFAS chemical employees to keep workforce in place to fulfill 3m’s obligations until a determination on end of service date , same laid off employees in January have been called back due to so many resignations. My friends down south are insulted, as they should be.

We (3m) need you but not in the long run.
Sad situation for all those affected.

It’s ridiculous how they’re treating employees in Decatur. They have everyone backed in a corner. Cutting film hours to 36 hours a week. To bad it’s not a union plant

How many employees in Decatur? How many will lose their jobs thanks to Mike's ill-informed decision to exit all pfas when chemours is ramping out production to fill the market left by 3M?

What is left in Decatur?

Yeah, that bonus is a joke and a bad one, even in northern Alabama's cost of living. I don't think it will keep that many people around. Over the next two years it is only $4,000, before taxes.

Keep that resume moving, just like everyone else left at 3M.

Don’t discount the invaluable PFAS manufacturing experience these employees are gaining at one of 3M’s most notoriously contaminated sites. Highly marketable & transferable skill set, like being a wheelwright or an expert Betamax VCR repair. I’d move to Defecator for half that retention bonus.
