Does anyone think it’s a good idea to make HyVee a career? Ive met a lot of great and smart employees wasting their time at HyVee. A lot of employees have degrees. I’ve seen people work their butts off to make it to director over the last 15 years. Most of them end up leave after being a store director for 2 or 3 years. What the point of giving it all to HyVee when in the end they will just ask more of you until you can’t take it and quit. Don’t make the same mistake as me and work for HyVee thinking it going to get better. The reality is HyVee isn’t going to get better. Time to start your exit plan. Look for new careers. I would recommend a job coach. They can sit down with you and help you figure your next step if your ready to move on. I’ve left HyVee 3 years ago. The pro and cons since I left. Con it was hard not working with my friends. Let’s list the pros. I make 2.5 times more than I did at HyVee. I don’t work holidays. I don’t work weekends. I work only 40 hours a week. More work life balance. I love spending time with my wife and kids. For the one that don’t have kids yet and don’t mind working crazy hours. I was that way until I had kids then I started missing out on time with my family. Don’t chase that store director cash because most don’t make it as store director. Once you realize that you will quit too like all of the other director.

Yep. Left. New career in new feild i new nothing about the products they sold a year ago. Closed 5000 dollar sale on my own. Selling is selling. Its simpling listen to customers wants and trying to fill those needs. Sometimes it giving a little to gain lifetime customer. No ad money spent on sale. No lose leaders company loses there a-s on. Just simple human interacation. Hyvee has lost that concept of sales. Poeple use eat breakfast at hyvee. Why fair price and meeting place for customer to discuss life. Breakfast hyvee dessert. Yep best breakfast. D-mb a-s randy still cant under the big breakfast sales were about humans meeting and talking over life over a fair priced breakfast. Randy what is last thing you sold to a real customer. Answer nothing just his hyvee stock. He talks about everything ever sun except how to to talk to his own everyday customers. Your failure randy. Having corporate employees working in retail stores is a lazy, unproductive management practice. Corporate employees should be doing the jobs they were hired to do at corporate, and stores should be given the resources they need to hire enough staff to get the job done at retail. Employees don't have to physically perform all the other jobs to understand the importance of those positions to the company and respect the people doing those jobs. It's up to top management to communicate that throughout the company and foster that climate of trust, appreciation and mutual respect. Three qualities sorely lacking in the New Hy-Vee.
They fail because corporate is dictating how they should run the stores.They are doing what corporate wants and it's a total failure.Corporate is failing this company.

About a 100 to 125 store directors have demoted or fired in the last two years. Comes as no surprise as they have failed to do their jobs. If I was randy I would fire everyone of them because they can’t execute a plan to get profits. All these new store directors think they have made it once they are promoted to that position. News flash it’s just the beginning and you have a lot to learn before you become a successful director. Number one reason directors fail.
It’s useless because what you’re saying here does nothing. That’s the definition of useless. I’m here for entertainment. Get a new job and leave hyvee if this is how you feel. That’s what everyone else does. All the posts on this are about finding a better career! Then do it! My god! Stop being so bitter and take charge of your life. Instead you’d rather attack people who you think are against you but are just trying to earn a paycheck just the same. Grow up.
If this site is so useless why are you even on here? Let’s just face the facts. If you still want to make HyVee a career you must be stupid. Can anyone list the pros for staying at HyVee for a career. It’s a sinking ship, they don’t pay well unless you are a director or above. 90,000 employees and only 1,000 people make any real money. That a very sad fact. The hours suck. They treat us p-o. With all that being said please stay at HyVee

Oh I’m sorry. You have to work at a store a dozen times a year poor you. Try working at a store full time in this new environment of not having the help anymore because of the hours being cut. To be honest most of the corporate staff that do come to help just walk around acting like they are some type of hotshot because they work at corporate. They don’t really do sh-t for us at the store. So go cry me a river because you have to get out from behind your desk and help a store. I’m sure you bi--h about going to help a store a few times a year. Once again it’s corporate vs stores.
The worst thing about Hy-Vee is the corporate employees? You realize corporate employees do have to work at stores... right? Multiple times per month. Or maybe you don’t know that and are making generalizations about things you know nothing about.
I can’t tell if you’re just a bit dense or if you actually don’t know there is a difference between “corporate employees” and then the executives at the office that actually make decisions and enforce things.
Everyone at corporate thinks they are smarting than the store employees. They are so far removed that they don’t even know how bad it is at store level. It corporate vs stores. We can even get along in our own company. We have a huge divide in our own company. Corporate thinks they know best and won’t take any advice from store level. It’s been that way since Randy has take. Over. My question is how has that worked out for HyVee. Profits are an all time low. Randy took away autonomy from the stores and it has been going down hill since. When you can take a dive from the people on the front line you won’t ever make it. They are the ones fighting the battle everyday on the front lines. Corporate needs to just support the stores in a positive way. Don’t forget HyVee warehouse is price gouging stores.we need to support our front line troops not try to make it harder for them. I think corporate staff needs to spend time working stores again. Spend a week working night stock and day help.
The worst thing about Hyvee is the corporate employees . Many of who have never worked in a store or it had been years since they have. They have no sense of reality in what occurs in a store, have no business making decisions when they don’t know, and how the corporate employees talk down to the front line employees.
