Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Just imagine

Just think how well we could do if we were just allowed to focus on making great cars. No transformation flavor of the month. No pretending EVs are the future of Ford. No quarterly random layoffs. Just making great vehicles that customers want. That would be awesome.

Imagine the Ford Next people not being happy about their offices in the Book building next to the train station. Those overpaid people underperform and over complain. LOL that they are unhappy to have to pay Detroit City income taxes 🤣

We are clearly in the matrix where nothing makes sense.

If you are not far away from the big cities getting laid off will seem unimportant compared to what cant be stopped.

GGBF will be a necessity as will living a simple life close to God and family.
Nothing else makes any sense.
Can ya feel me?

@hut+1mx8ncin This is what I was thinking, what makes Ford think people will buy their junk when they can buy a quality car for the same price?

@2rsv+1mx8ncin Just imagine all the Next employees depart for other non productive employment…but I’m not sure they have any skills that any other employer would need. I hadn’t heard of any departures yet, but that is good news, especially if Director and up.

Just imagine ..... Today is Nation Twilight Zone day. I think I hear Rod Serling

“You’re traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind; a journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That’s the signpost up ahead, our next stop, the Twilight Zone.” – – Rod Serling

One of the fakes of Next is leaving and another was rejected at a competitor. Finally, they are exposed and shown the door - good riddance.
Shareholders are demanding accountability, Alexandra Ford does not have the experience or qualifications to serve on the BoD.
Hoping K Robinson also is encouraged to ' retire '.
LL5s have been asked to sign NDAs - an exodus or more separations coming soon.
Now can we imagine this forum without the PR trolls and Ford without Farley and Field!

GM "Envolve"?

Is that even a word?

Has the previous post even heard of Ford OS ? They must not even work for Ford.

Ford OS is our new way of working and operating.

@1byl+1mx8ncin We have the clowns of Ford Next creating nothing that generates revenue while General Motors is creating all of this:

General Motors said Wednesday it is launching a new business called GM Envolve that it expects will streamline operations and provide added revenue.

GM Envolve will encompass all of GM's sales force under one umbrella. It will work directly with business and government fleet customers as a one-stop shop for all of GM's fleet products — such as internal combustion and electric vehicles — and for access to business units such as BrightDrop, GM Energy, GM Defense, OnStar, GM Genuine Parts and more.

This country doesn't care if people can't afford a decent living - least of all a new vehicle. When Roosevelt introduced the concept of minimum wage he intended it to be a living wage for all.

Roosevelt said, “In my Inaugural I laid down the simple proposition that nobody is going to starve in this country. It seems to me to be equally plain that no business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country.

“By business I mean the whole of commerce as well as the whole of industry; by workers I mean all workers, the white collar class as well as the men in overalls; and by living wages I mean more than a bare subsistence level-I mean the wages of decent living.”

Ask and politician about raising minimum wage - yes, especially the Republicans - and they will fight against it with every breath.

We are right where the leaders of this country want us. We will be picking up their crumbs in the form of used cars. And without affordable base model cars, the used cars will cost more than ever before. They would be happy if we took busses and they could keep us at work far longer than ever before.

@wzq: Ford's pursuit of affluent customers, and its failure to offer products for the less affluent, is a sign that the company has forgotten what made it great. Consider these words from the company's founder, Henry Ford:

“I will build a car for the great multitude. It will be large enough for the family, but small enough for the individual to run and care for. It will be constructed of the best materials, by the best men to be hired, after the simplest designs that modern engineering can devise. But it will be so low in price that no man making a good salary will be unable to own one...”

The current senior management seems to identify more with the tone-deaf observation that a GM VP offered in the late 1950s when he was asked about affordability. He said, "America has all the low-cost transportation it needs. We call them used cars." The problem with not offering new products with entry-level pricing is that buyers will purchase them from your competitors. Winning these customers for Ford when they replace their basic vehicles with something more upscale has historically proven to be very difficult.

@1byl+1mx8ncin FLV seems to be MIA but CM’s accomplishment this week is traveling to Korea to earn FF mikes for his next family vacation. Why Ford has any belief that a guy who barely graduated from college has the ability to create profitable new businesses is beyond comprehension.

I tell ya, I'd prefer all of the things you all mentioned. Getting paid a wage that matches inflation. Getting free health care. Mandated 6 weeks vacation. And 32 hour work weeks.

No need to imagine, we did produce great cars, trucks, suvs, etc.... we knew what people wanted and we made great profits. Sadly, that is no longer the case. IMO, it started with Mark Fields and Hackett and Farley not only have destroyed Ford but have a created a toxic and unethical process that will be very difficult to change. Nepotism is rampant and the company is filled with fakes unable to deliver. Great example is K Robinson, just typing her name makes me want to vomit, she was one of the architects that led to the Boston Consulting list of over 50 year olds/ pension eligible that were separated last August, then she gets a promotion to Head of Family Vehicles without any experience - disgraceful, I truly hope she rots. More fakes are C Moran and F Louis-Victor - all talk, no accomplishments that lead to profits. Dford has another fake, Musgraves, pontificates and again accomplishes nothing. We understood what lean and agile meant, we survived a horrible economic crisis and yet we have learned nothing. Shame on Bill Ford and the entire Ford family. Ford is on watchlists for worst companies to work for. Is it to late to change. Well, IMAGINE Ford with Farley terminated as well as over half of LL2/3/4/5 s and IMAGINE how productive, efficient and focused everyone would be and deliver extraordinary vehicles and products that people want.

@axi I wonder if instead of 32 hr work week people would be happier with mandated minimum 6 weeks of vacation per year AND free health care.

@axi - I'd rather take my adjustment for inflation as a 20% bump in compensation rate and still work a standard 40, then than having my required hours cut and paid as if I worked 40.

The big question behind a move to a shorter work-week is how much would national productivity be impacted. Studies and experience in other countries suggest it wouldn't be fully commeasurate with the reduction in hours worked, but it'd be unrealistic to expect there to be no impact. Reduced productivity leads to reduced supply (of everything) and that leads to increased prices. Maybe it all balances out, maybe it drives more inflation

LMAO @wzq+1mx8ncin where do you think your food and drink comes from? You know the essentials for life. Do you see the farmers, ranchers etc clambering for EV? Only a fool would think the government would shutdown US food and drink production by forcing all EV.
Study history a bit. Those living on farms and ranches ate well in the Great Depression. The educated city dwellers not so much. Those educated city dwellers (and companies) chasing the latest fad and frittering their money away were hit hard in the Great Depression. A Fool and his money soon part.

Ford is targeting different customers than ever before. I've seen an uptick in purchases by young affluent highly educated men and women. With higher profit margins, we can sell fewer vehicles and make as much money. The blue collar crowd will be out of the market soon anyway when all new car sales must be EV. I've also seen a lot of Lincoln product placement on the BET network and Bounce network. Our customer base is changing fast.

“I know this steak doesn’t exist. I know that when I put it in my mouth, the Matrix is telling my brain that it is juicy and delicious. After nine years, you know what I realize? Ignorance is bliss.”

There’s no point in clinging to a dream that the company will be making “great” cars. Those days ended when Hackett became CEO. They will never come again with Farley or any other cronies the Ford family has lined up to occupy the CEO chair. The quicker you understand this, the quicker you can plan your exit. The product that is getting added to the cycle plan is out of the reach of the 50th percentile earner. The Ford product line will become irrelevant for either the middle class because they are unaffordable or the upper class because they are compromised pieces of garbage.
