They don’t tell you this up front and when I challenged my relocation advisor, he claimed he didn’t know. This is a genuine post and is based on a recent experience.
I am a Christian and moved across. My wife is a certain religion that is favourable to Arabs. When I applied for her visa it was bounced. We eventually got a workaround by removing her religion from the application and resubmitting. Essentially the government worker at the visa place was friendly and unofficially advised me what to do. He could have flat out rejected it.
I’m sharing this in case there are others who are married under different religions. Steer clear of Aramco. They will not recognise the marriage. They won’t tell you ahead of time because your advisor is either d-mb or a liar. And of course if you’re anything like me, it didn’t occur to ask before moving.
Your scenario is this: one of you will need to lie about your religion. Now if some fundamentalist decides to make an example of someone, for example, who denies being a Muslim, a potentially very bad path will emerge.
In the end it was a bridge too far for us and we walked away.
