Putting the Lightning pedal down

Big whoops, scaling to 150,000. Still have 1400 unclaimed new Lightnings on dealer lots. Not enough customers to fill these orders so moving to 150k will be a disaster.

Another vendor thrown under the (electric) bus.

Ford Motor Co (F.NaE) said on Fridaythat it will open orders for its popular F-150 Lightning trucknext week as part of their plan to scale to annual production of150,000 units.

Ford is facing another production snag on the F-150 pickuptrucks due to missing door handles, a source told Reuters onWednesday.

The company faced a production snag in February after abattery fire. Production resumed in March.

"While a supplier part shortage is affecting some of ourNorth American plants, we expect to make up all of theproduction that is impacted," the automaker said in an emailedstatement on Wednesday.

Ford this week posted robust first-quarter revenue andreiterated its plans to boost Lightning production to a rate of150,000 vehicles a year by the end of this year

@lie+1muprnTb Henry Ford put the world on wheels by providing affordable transportation. Bill Ford and your ilk are undoing Henry's vision and are ushering in an era un-affordable transportation for the working man. Pick-ups use to be the domain of farmers, municipalities and construction firms, not the elite. There use to be tests, like pick-up box grain leakage which was critical to farmers. Since the mid 80s more people started buying pick-ups because they cost less than cars. As time has passed the grain test has gone away and the market is dominated by casual drivers like yourself, not hard working Americans.

The ones on the lot don’t qualify for the EV tax credit. They exceed the threshold cap on price.

The Government fascist alignment with Big Tech is who wants EVERYONE in an EV, with the exception of themselves, of course. It's all about controlling the people for the upcoming implementation of global communism right here in the USA. It's like the arrogant calling for g-n bans when they have armed security. They don't want you to have the right to defend yourself either.

My friends and I all love our Ford Lightning trucks. We are mostly Director level manufacturing guys and a couple of physicians. We always throw our mountain bikes in the back and cruise on out to the trails for some epic riding.

I think Ford should stop making the XL and XLT. Who is even buying those trucks anyway? Poor people or blue collar working men? Is that really the image that we want for our brand? Absolutely not. Ford should be targeting the educated - high earning - young men and women that can carry this company into the future.

@rvj+1muprnTb: Yes I have driven a Ford Lighting and all I can say is boring.... Way to expensive for a "Grocery Getter" and why put my families life in danger with the possibility of burning down my house!

F150 Lightning has no value proposition. Its capability for EV range is a joke given the cost. The styling is boring, frankly they do not stand out. The Lightning is a personification of the Ford leadership team: Boring and Incapable.

Success by what metric? For shipped a little over ~4300 Lightning's in the 1Q. They also sold ~5400 Mach E's. Tesla delivered over ~422K vehicles globally in the same time period. They sold 1.3M cars in 2022.

Let's at least be factual with numbers. Ford's EV results to date have been disappointing. And the competition will only increase.

Lightning has been a success. Don't be fooled by the automotive press which has a vendetta against Ford and the Ford+ transformation plan.

Have you even driven one?
