Another Ranger Recall

Hard to blame supplier for an installation issue. Fact that it’s safety related just takes more shine from our “halo.”

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2004-2006 Ford Ranger models that received replacement front passenger air bag inflators under a previous recall, and this particular recall is a follow up and a replacement to one issued in early March.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the replacement frontal passenger air bag inflators may have been installed incorrectly.

The hazards: an incorrectly installed inflator may not properly inflate the passenger air bag, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

Components: front passenger air bag inflator.

Affected vehicles: select 2004-2006 Ford Ranger models produced between May 13th, 2003, through May 2nd, 2006.

Number of vehicles affected: 231,942

The fix: dealers will inspect and reinstall the front passenger air bag inflator, as necessary, free of charge.

@mzi - If Ford is recalling, the Ford lawyers and bean counters know that there is discoverable evidence that Ford is culpable AND the cost of not doing a recall is predicted to be greater than the cost of the recall.

That what doesn’t ki-l you, isn’t a Ford.

Long history of putting Ford vehicle owners at risk.

No Ford, new or old, for my family.

We are recalling vehicles that are 17 to 19 years old?
