Thread regarding 3M layoffs

What buildings on campus are likely to be mothballed

Not sure which ones are already closed down (someone please give a listing).

Any candidates for closure or even demolition as part of Mike bold "reduce rooftops- that is my playbook now!" Plan for the future.

My first recommendation is hit the wrecking ball into 220 bldg. Tell M&M boys and wee Pete to WFH from now on. Start by knocking out the 14th floor.

Why not just start with leveling 235 and 236 and of course the tunnel connecting them.

HQ is the single largest consumer of energy in the entire company and not a single product comes out of it. Insult to injury the days of 10-14k people on site are long gone with an average of ~2k per day at most and yet still remains the largest consumer in the company.

Before COVID hit, an employee presentation was made that talked about a 5 and 10 year “look” for the HQ campus. A number of buildings are considered “sick” due to chemical contamination, asbestos issues, and overall pilot plant remnants. Building 235 is one of them. It would cost more to make this building healthy versus knocking it down and building a more modern work space (whatever that means). Building 220, as an office only space, seems to be a different challenge. I’d love to hear comments on what’s going on there. Businesses have been moved out and the 14th executive offices floor is empty (they’re in 223 now).
