Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

The manager is acting strange

At one point, the manager's behavior seemed very strange to me and I took it as a sign that I might get laid off. On the other hand, I'm very afraid of being jobless now, so maybe that's just my imagination.

Are there any more reliable signs that someone might be cut?

There is always a list of who is considered a low performer available. To get to 15% there will be more than the lowest performers. Sad thing is many have really tried their best to make this company stay afloat but to no avail. Best of luck to all of us waiting till the 15th.. start saying your good byes because when the axe swings it’s to late. Top Mgmt worried about their own necks and not anybody else’s..

Before the furlough the managers were asked to compile lists of people they deemed essential for running the business. They also knew who would be affected by the RIF's. Not sure if all of them know now but at least some do.

Managers know. Why do you think some are on Vacation? People in the last round had used vacation that wasn’t earned yet and Sabre didn’t even try to collect the money. Sure they sent a nasty note but the never tried to claim , due to cost to do so. This company is hemorrhaging cash. Get all you can before your job goes overseas. Use your friends as references. Your manager is not your friend. Wake up!

Most likely your manager doesn't know anything... it's probably the same situation as it was with furlough when nobody knew till the last day.

At the same time, I do not understand how you can tell people that in 10 days they might lose jobs. How can you even work during this time?

He is probably worried about his/her own job. Only VPs and above identified who would be cut.

Do not overthink, prepare resume/resumes and send to a few companies.
